Tian Fu Association (Singapore) Launches Tianfu Foundation (Singapore) in Collaboration with Community Foundation of Singapore
At CFS, we work with donors from all walks of life who have done well in life and wish to use their resources to drive meaningful change. Some are born and raised here, while others have made Singapore their home and are eager to give back to the community that has embraced them.
Tian Fu Association's Commitment to Singapore
One notable example is the Tian Fu Association (Singapore). Established in 2000 as Singapore’s first association for new immigrants, the Tian Fu Association has actively supported the local community through scholarships and bursaries for students in need. It has also championed the integration of new immigrants into Singapore’s multicultural society.
To commemorate its 25th Anniversary, the association established the Tianfu Foundation (Singapore) with the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS). At the association’s celebratory dinner at Fairmont Singapore, President Hu Junhui presented a cheque for $200,000 to CFS CEO Catherine Loh, marking their pledged commitment to launching the fund.
The Foundation’s mission is to enhance social mobility and create opportunities for underserved communities in Singapore.
“Establishing the Tianfu Foundation is our way of giving back to the community that has warmly embraced us. Guided by CFS’s expertise, we are committed to uplifting families in need and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate Singapore,” said President Hu.
Fostering Integration and Harmony
In a diverse society like Singapore, fostering integration and harmony is essential to building a united and inclusive community.
Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, Guest-of-Honour at the dinner, emphasised the importance of this, saying “The integration of new immigrants is a long process that requires understanding and acceptance. Although the historical and social contexts may differ, this is a journey that our predecessors have also undergone. I urge all Singaporeans to come together to ensure harmony, stability, and the prosperous development of Singapore.” (Translated from Zaobao)
Former President Du Zhiqiang echoed this commitment: “Singapore is our new home. Tian Fu Association has always been dedicated to helping new immigrants integrate into the vibrant multi-ethnic and multicultural fabric of society. We strive to overcome language and cultural barriers to become a truly local community organisation,” he said in an interview with Zaobao.
Looking to the Future: A Shared Vision for Change
We are delighted to welcome our donors at the Tianfu Foundation to the CFS family, and look forward to working together to create brighter opportunities for all.
