We started YP Support Group hoping to provide a supportive environment for Young People like us, to lend a helping hand to the people in need. We would love to inspire others to make a difference with us, and one of the ways is through fundraising.
Fundraising is not just about raising money, it is also about building relationships with our community and developing network.
We regularly volunteer for events where we can give back to the community. However, in light of the Covid-19 situation, we were wondering how we could do this; and we came across the Sayang Sayang Fund. We decided to support the Sayang Sayang Fund because the donations would be used as emergency community funds for the vulnerable communities. As it did not only target one specific population, we thought that raising funds for this would enable us to reach out to many people in need. Furthermore, the government has been giving us support funds – and some of us may not need it as much as others. Hence, we wanted to set a platform for our friends and family so that they could help to build awareness about the vulnerable communities and lend a helping hand by donating.
We are glad that we were able to do this along with the Community Foundation of Singapore – Sayang Sayang Fund.
“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make” is a line that YP Support Group would like to advocate.
